At Home Newborn Session in Charlottesville, Virginia

When I first started chatting with this mama about their newborn session, I couldn't have been more excited. We planned for the session in early December shortly after I was returning from vacation. While I was sad that our vacation was over, having this newborn session to look forward to made me pretty happy to get back home.

I always offer my client closet to all of my mamas for their newborn session. Those months after having a baby can make it very challenging to find something to wear that you love and feel good in. She chose about 8 dresses that she was interested in that I brought to her home on the morning of their session for her to try on. She fell in love with two dresses, so we chose to wear both for their session and change midway through.

My approach to newborn sessions is two fold. I love to get natural lifestyle and connected shots with a family and their new baby, but I also will set families up into gentle poses to add variety to their gallery. After I set my family up in the best lighting, I always tell them to love on their baby. There is no need to freeze in position or say cheese. It is always about the connection.

Keeping Baby Happy

Every parent is always stressed on session day wondering how their baby will do for the session. It is always my number one priority to keep your baby happy and do my best to soothe them along the way.

This little guy was such a trooper during our session. He showed his little eyes for us on several occasions without even a little fuss! And he took a little snooze while I photographed him in his adorable crib. What a little dream boat baby!
